About Me

I wasn’t the girl who played dress up and dreamt of a pink Barbie car. I wasn’t the girl who planned her wedding at 11 years old. I wasn’t even the girl who hoped for a life outside of a 9-5 job, even though I desperately dreamed of such. I’ve lived my life carefully partitioned between what was safe and secure (which landed me in law school, locking my creativity in a box and stifling my soul), until I let myself dream. Out loud.

After marrying my best friend (and high school sweetheart) in 2005, he gifted me a camera. I unwrapped the box, but what I didn’t realize then was that I also unwrapped my dreams. With little experience, no training, but a lot of heart, I set out to become a photographer…and that’s precisely what happened.

Since the inception of my business, I’ve photographed hundreds of weddings, traveled the world to document nuptials, made memories to last a lifetime, and voted Top 10 Wedding Photographers in the World by American Photo Magazine. For the first time in my life, I let my dreams steer me toward my hopes and it resulted in taking a risk I’m proud of.

Today I’m an international wedding photographer living in Southern California with my husband, JD, and our dog, Polo. Together we shoot weddings and ensure your first day as husband and wife is etched in your hearts as the best day of your lives.

I’d be honored to chat more about your wedding, so feel free to visit my website or simply email me for more information.

Your photos are just beautiful, thanks for sharing so generously!
Do you do spend much time processing your work with Photoshop and if you do, do you have any techniques you use as a standard to get your "look?" I am fairly new photographer, not really planning on shooting weddings (too much stress/responsibility) but I am interested in improving my portrait shots overall. I am working on both post-processing as well as creating images that are beautiful straight of the camera.
I am adding your blog to my visit daily list! Thanks again.

I have been checking out blogs for about 2-3 years now and you have been one of the few I have sticked to up til this day.. you and jessica c. 🙂 The way you have gone up, up, up I admire you for.. There is something magical about you and the way you work. To me it seems like when you set your mind for something, you do it 120% and you do it very well!! People love to say that about themselves – that they like to do everything wholeheartedly.. but I have never seen anyone SO devoted to something the way you are.. You inspire people, more than I think you know.. Not just when it comes to photography, but also just to see life as a special gift and therefore do something big with your life!
I know this is maybe too long, but one more thing.. Your "da thing".. Have you noticed how many jasmine star – wanna-bees there are in the business right now? sorry for being so honest 🙂 but have you noticed? probably not.. but there are! seriously! Not that that is bad, but just that that proves my point – Ur Da Thing right now! (ps sorry for my english, not my 1st language)

I came across your blog after a photographer friend suggested it as a great means to see just what exactly a talented photographer can do. I absolutely adore photography but am still in the extreme amateur stage. As I am continuing to practice and grow, seeing blogs like this, with unbelievably beautiful and unique shots is incredibly intimidating while still incredibly inspiring. You have a beautiful gift and I thank you for sharing it with me.

I am just starting out in the photography/wedding industry and your blog site was recommended to me by a fellow photographer. And let me just say that I just spent the better part of my Saturday going through your all of your posts… literally… March 2010 and made it almost through mid-2008! 😉 You have become my latest inspiration, so THANK YOU for being amazing at what you do! 🙂 I flipped through your old blog (thank you for keeping that up) and it made me really excited to see what is to come in my future (because at this point, I’m pretty much right about where you started, with 1 lens, an ok camera, and a huge love for photography!)

  117. Khristina

    October 14th, 2010 at 1:16 pm

My mom’s secret to awesome meatloaf? One egg per pound of meat and using a mixture of beef & pork. A little breadcrumbs (not seasoned), salt, pepper, parsley, and ketchup. Get in there with your hands – but don’t over mix it! – throw it in a glass 8×8 dish & bake at 350 for 45-60 minutes (depending on how much meat you’re using). With a little mashed potatoes & veggie of your choice, you’ve got a killer meal that will win (or re-win, as I recently read your anniversary post) any man’s heart. (=
You’ve got some awesome pictures too – keep it up! =)

Great Pic! I rather be good at photography than cooking meat loaf! 🙂 I want to bump up my photography so bad and I know it means better glass and maybe a new camera. What do you shoot with mostly? What is your favorite for weddings; especially if you are shooting alone?
So you ever do on line classes?
Orange County, CA is so beautiful. I dated someone from San Luis Obispo years ago and we went all over the state. Beautiful! Especially riding along HWY 101 along the coast and mountains.
Have a great day! Look forward to hearing more from you!

    Hi Jasmine

Just filmed my very first wedding and was totally terrified. Thankfully I have reviewed the footage and it all seems to look good. However, I found that I was missing many great opportunity shots such as the brides suite in the morning and posing the newly married couple in a stables. I could of capitalised on this so, do you have any tips for organising myself more before the wedding.

    Thanks in advance.

    March 15th, 2012 at 3:10 pm

All I can say is you are so, unbelievably, 120%, drop-dead, smoking gorgeous!!!

    No, really. You are. Seriously.

By the way, has anyone ever said you look a whole lot like Eva Mendez, but more beautiful?

Anyway, your work is absolutely amazing. I was mentally goaded into looking you up on Google when the folks at Scott Kelby’s show, The Grid, were worshiping you during an episode I was watching last night. Now I can see why they were so flabbergasted and falling over themselves.

You’ve encouraged me to look at my own work in a new light with a different perspective. Thank you for sharing your talent, enthusiasm, and honesty.

By the way, my wife’s secret meatloaf ingredient is oats. She mixes oats in with the meat. We also like to make Meatloaf Alaska. You put the mashed up meat mixture in the bottom of a glass bread pan and cook it until it’s almost done. Then you put a layer of cooked mashed or whipped potatoes over the top of that. Then cover the whole surface with a huge amount of shredded colby cheese. Then continue baking it until the cheese it totally melted. Mmmmm….

    April 19th, 2012 at 12:57 am

One of the nicest "about me" ever. Come to think of it, with a few minor differences, mine is extremely similar… so… let me see…

    1. I live in the frozen Canadian North, not on sunny Cali.
    2. I live with a beautiful wife, daughter and a cat and my favourite list is at times purely alphabetical.
    3. I’m totally inept at social media.
    4. I’m an ugly, old man not a gorgeous, young woman (even I sort-of gave the man part away by stating above something about a wife)

As I said… VERY similar indeed!

    Oh… I forgot:

    5. My photography sucks!

I dont know how I came across you, but based on your words, you are a very special person with a very positive drive. I’m a self driven individual, I am living my dream as well, although it is still taken me sometime to fulfill it. I came across a wedding photographer a while back, I admired her work so much that I decided to contact her, when she finally answered my cal, she completely lost interest, she knew I wasn’t a prospective bride to be married, but only a small unknown bridal designer that really looked up to her, she yawned over the phone, and basically told me the industry was to crowded for what I wanted to do, besides she told me I couldn’t afford her!; So how does this relate to you, well you are young, beautiful, and you have been in the business not very long, and look at you! But now after reading about you and all your fans , I see why…Blessings! XoXo, another one of your fans 🙂

I just found your site today (through Pinterest) and absolutely love it! After reading your About Me, I realized that our stories are very similar. I got married two months ago and during our engagement this past summer, my fiance gifted me a professional camera for my birthday. Since then we’ve talked about me starting my own photography business – a passion I had as a child, but let that dream go through the ups and downs of high school/college. Thank you for inspiring me. I am a single mother and my drive for me and my children is the lens of a camera. Your words, smile and happiness, in what you do, inspires me to the fullest. Thank you.
