Yesterday I shot a wedding…and it was fantabulous! Yes, it rained, but the weather couldn’t dampen the spirit of the beautiful day. I absolutely LOVE what I do. I’m blessed to do it. And I’m honored to capture the most special day in a person’s life.

What made yesterday’s wedding so amazing was I was joined by an AWESOME crew of people. The lovely Courtney Toney of Joyful Weddings and Events was there making sure the day went off without a hitch (I love this girl!!), and my good friend David Jay was there to second shoot for me. How rad is that? He brought along Paul, videographer extraordinaire, and Allie for the day, so we all spent the day enjoying each other’s company. I felt so blessed.

I’ll be posting wedding pictures soon, but I just had to express my heartfelt appreciation for my friends…they make me love what I do…and I’m a better person because of them!

This picture cracked me up!!! Don’t you just love how in focus we are?! Don’t worry, folks, we’re completely professional! 🙂

The lovely Courtney

Happy Sunday!

    Hi there, can i first say i have just finished reading all of your blog !!! took me awhile but i got there. What an awesome photographer you are, your images are so inspiring and i know this has been said many time before but it is very true.I would like to ask in a lot of the photos you have no strap on your camera ! Do you not use one for a reason ? I find they really get in the way but i would drop my camera for sure.
    Thanks scott.

    Haha, love the sharp eyes in the first one, heck YES! One of the reasons my wife and I are getting into this is for this exact reason…being a part of someone’s most special day! I have a question for you, can you fill me in on what exactly you did in photoshop to these photos you just posted (especially the second one)? Did you use any actions? I’d love to know 🙂

    February 25th, 2008 at 2:56 pm

    @Bartek: I always use Kubota Actions and Totally Rad Actions. To read more about how I process my images, you can go to the search icon in the upper right corner of my blog and type in FAQ and it’ll take you to all these types of posts! 🙂 @Scott: I don’t use a strap for many reasons, but here are a few: 1. I think straps get in my way. 2. I think they look dorky on me. 3. I always want to be in ready mode to shoot…if I have a strap on, it’s easy to be lax about…however, if the camera is already in my hands, and something happens in a split second, I’m already in a ready position! 🙂 @Kristin&Courtney: Yes, I’m crazy for wearing heels, but I kinda figured if I wore flats on a rainy day I’d feel so blah and mushy. I LOVE Shelley&Brett, so I wanted to make sure I put my best foot forward…even if that foot was in a heel! 😉 But, yes, I’m TOTALLY PAYING FOR IT TODAY! 😉

    Thanks for the quick reply! =}
    Actually, I checked out all of your posts about that already and I know you use those action packs but I was just curious what exactly you did to these photos that’s all 😉 I think what I’m missing is how to make shots have more buttery smooth skin and soft, but yet keep the entire shot lookin’ sharp, know what I mean?

    hahaha! J*, why is it that your assistants are always bored?! It must be because you truly are a photog maniac! click-click click-click-click! BTW, how did you protect your camera from the rain?

  29. Jasmine*

    February 25th, 2008 at 5:56 pm

    @Ann: I don’t know why my assistants are always bored?! I need to work on my docile and calm personality! 😉 Also, the rain held off for the ceremony (THANKFULLY!), but it rained off/on during formals and then rained when I had the chance to photograph the couple alone. Bummer! It was a light rain, so I didn’t worry too much about my gear. A little rain ain’t gonna hurt us! 🙂

    @Cassandra: Thanks for the makeup love…I decided to wear pink and purple shadows to brighten the grey day! @Bartek: For these images, I used TRA’s TWD No Glow and lowered the opacity…I also shot wide open, which gives that buttery look and feel! 🙂
