How to Pose for a Photoshoot : Posing a Groom

Allow me to state the obvious: I'm not a guy. I don't think like a guy (please don't get my started on sports), don't dress like a guy (how can they possibly wear the same sweatshirt since college?!), and I don't act like a guy (however, I have been known to belch the alphabet…I wish I was joking). In light of this, I work really hard at watching the way men move their bodies.

When JD asks if I'm checking out a guy, I simply say I'M DOING RESEARCH, BOO.

In all honesty, I like the way bodies move and I challenge myself to replicate natural movements while I'm photographing my subjects. I study male-focused fashion magazines (GQ, Esquire, J Crew catalogue, Spin, etc) to see how men sit, stand, walk, and place their arms and I store it away for later shoots.

In today's installment of Shooting Star, I'll be walking through how to pose a man (or for us wedding photographers, how to pose a groom), and talk about my settings and approach.
