Megan and Brent : Engagement

She stood outside of the Mission with the sun shining on her dark brown locks of hair and the rays of light only magnified her intense brown eyes as she looked to Brent. They waited to enter the San Juan Capistrano Mission together and later strolled through the sienna-colored porticos hand-in-hand. Although they live walking distance from the Mission, Brent turned to Megan and said, I haven’t been here since the fourth grade. She offers an askance glance and laughs when she tells him she visited just last week. With her camera.

Megan is an artist, now working primarily as a graphic designer, who has always loved photography, even owning a personal darkroom and processing her own film. Many years later she’s able to incorporate her digital pictures into graphic designs, which has proven a successful marriage of her talents. As they walk along the dirt path, with Brent’s arm tied tightly around her waist, Megan knows she’ll have an equally successful marriage to the man of her dreams beginning next September.

I’m SO excited to be shooting Megan and Brent’s wedding! As we walked along the streets of San Juan Capistrano together, I was immediately struck with their love for each other and for their families. They have a wonderful day planned with amazing details at a great venue…I couldn’t ask for more! 🙂 I know we’re going to have a blast shooting again along the Old Town streets next month!

I’m really, really blessed to have my clients’ trust…when I asked Megan and Brent if they’d mind laying on a parking garage floor, they happily agreed. *sigh* How can I NOT love them!?! 😉

Awesome work as usual Jasmine! I love the Mission in San Juan, it is such a great place to shoot. Did you have to pay the $50 fee because you are a "professional" photographer? The last time I was there I tried to sneak my gear in but they caught me and made me pay $50, as well as have my insurance company fax over a waiver.

Hi Jasmine … I have never commented on your blog before but I check it out almost everyday. I just wanted to let you know that your work is clever, beautiful, and innovative … and I think you are an inspiration. I love the way you write about the couples before each post – you seem like such a sincere and compassionate person. Thanks for being so great!!

Goodness…thank you for your feedback…I’m kind of taken back with it all. Sincerely, thank you. A couple people asked what lens I shot the bottom three pictures with and I used the 28mm, 1.8. I basically used the 50mm and the 28mm all day! 🙂

Hey Jasmine! I don’t know if you remember me, but we met at the Xtreme! retreat in Cabo. Your photos are awesome! I read your blog every day and you amaze me! I have loved watching you progress as a photographer. Seeing your work has inspired me to try harder and get better. Your color and skin tone is so good! I am really struggling with getting my color and skin tone to look the way I want it to. What post processing do you do to your images? Do you use actions?

  38. Jasmine*

    August 10th, 2007 at 6:07 am

Hi Rylee! Yes, of COURSE I remember you…how’s new website coming along? I’m sure it’s just as fabulous as YOU! 🙂 Yes, I use actions, but I use them sparingly and/or lower the opacity greatly. You can read more about my techniques on the Blu Domain Happy Hour blog, but I always highly recommend Kevin Kubota’s actions as well as Totally Rad Actions by the Boutwell’s. Hope this helps!! 🙂

hey jasmine! Your work is just STELLAR! I’m seriously floored… I’ve gone to see your work right from the beginning and its been wonderful to see your growth and progress to its stunning level that it is today 🙂 Just a question to a budding photographer all the way from Sydney Australia – how do you get such contrast in the eyes? The crisp deep blacks and the white whites, and saturated irises without ruining the colour and skintone in the rest of the photo? I read ur interview with Blu but didnt really pick up much on that. Thank uuuuu! Keep up the amazing work – you’ve become my new inspiration J*!!

Hi Megan! I’m happy you like the slideshow…it was ALL you and Brent…I was just there to click my camera! 🙂 Hi J! You ask a sort of complicated question seeing how I really don’t do anythng out of the ordinary to their eyes…I’ve been asked before about the whites of the eyes, but I don’t have a good answer…I wish I was more help! Sorry! If you log onto you can post your question on the forum and I’m sure some Photoshop genius will answer brilliantly! 🙂
