My First Kiss

It was my first step on a school campus as a legit student. I wore new shoes, a neatly ironed skirt, and a brand-new backpack. When I think back to that moment, I’m mostly struck with the idea that I was trying too hard. But I was homeschooled until that very point, so I didn’t know any better. I walked into WCCS as an eighth grader, as a single (my twin decided to be homeschooled for another year), and fully focused on what mattered: boys. Namely, that I had zero experience with them. Mom explained that they were from the devil–and I wasn’t allowed to date until I was 31–but I was determined to figure it out for myself.

Unluckily, the boys paid little attention to me. I was awkward. Pudgy, bushy eyebrows, and I wore hand-me-downs, so I was in a constant state of looking, well, worn. It wasn’t until Brieanna befriend me that my luck changed. She had a closet filled with clothes, her mother plucked my brows, and she showed me all the cool radio stations to listen to. RnB…definitely RnB…

Shortly into the year, I caught the attention of TJ Lunsford. He had almond shaped eyes and a magnetic smile. He lived with his grandmother, loved basketball, and didn’t seem to care about my clothes. We started talking on the phone after school and then became a couple. Because that’s how it happens. Duh.

TJ + Jasmine = 4ever

Kissing was strictly forbidden at the school, but I knew if we were to going to kiss, it had to be there because my parents didn’t allow me to hang out after the bell rang. At the risk of being suspended, I knew I had to be ready for TJ at any moment. It was all about the strawberry-flavored chapstick. One afternoon, TJ took a break from playing football at lunch and invited me to sit with him. Alone. Behind the dumpster. Hold on…that bears repeating…BEHIND THE DUMPSTER. He was breathing deeply. I like to pretend it was because he was nervous, but I know it was because he’d just scored a touchdown. We spoke for a bit, then he leaned in and kissed me. Soft, firm, experienced. I, on the other hand, looked like I was trying to resuscitate a llama.

A couple weeks later, TJ broke up with me. Michelle was his new girlfriend and they kissed in the bus after our basketball games. And she didn’t make it look so llama-ish. It made me realize my mom was right after all: Boys were from the devil.

Ha! My first kiss, sad but true, I was 15!!! I was legally driving a car at 13, but was 15 1/2 before I had my first kiss. It was my crush, Zach, at the skating rink. I had to "sit out" because I was speed skating (shocker!) and it was weird, but perfect. Oh, and yes, my dad said boys were from the devil, and I was NOT to talk to them on the phone. Ask my bff, Jason, he shot at him, with a GUN! lol!

My first kiss was in 7th grade in the band hall instrument storage closet. It was with Ted Kirby. Apparently he had milk for lunch because his breath had some funk. We never kissed again.

Aww, cute story. I was 21 when I got my first kiss. Yes that’s right. 21. I was visiting my cousin in California and she set me up on a blind date for Valentine’s Day!! Of all the days…obviously I wasn’t very good at dating, I’d never done it before!! But he was very sweet and could tell I was nervous. We sat in his very cool car after dinner and he asked if he could kiss me goodnight. It was perfect, I was embarrassed, I gave him a hug and ran inside to tell my cousins and aunt. "He kissed me! On the mouth!"
It didn’t work out with me living in Montana and he was in California. I’m 22 now and he’s still the only boy I’ve ever kissed but I wouldn’t have it any other way! 🙂

Out of breath because you just scored a touchdown as a 14 year old not likely. Out of breath because you’re about to kiss a pretty girl, no matter how many times you’ve done it before……. much more likely.

My Dad handed me a filet knife (blade open) on my first date and told me if I saw anything that night that I had never seen before, to cut it off….Dating and boys were scary for me too at first! I’ll never forget my Dad…he laughed so hard as that guy drove his van out of our driveway….fast!

My first kiss was with a dreamy boy named Troy Cassity (isn’t that the perfect name for your first kiss boy!?). I remember he took his gum out right before he slipped me the tongue. Then he dumped me shortly after and for a far more experienced girl too. Oh well 🙂

great blog! I have a similar experience…except my first kiss was unfortunately a dare (so i don’t REALLY count it as my FIRST kiss lol) and instead of behind a dumpster it was a movie theater. It was when we were at the age of going on group dates. I believe it was in 7th grade and unfortunately my crush the guy who I was dared to kiss had eaten popcorn and I hated the taste at the time….needless to say I pulled away and he claimed that I had bitten his tongue and my girlfriends teased me forever about it. I ended up marrying his best friend! And my "real" first was way better!
