Shaken, Not Stirred

I woke this morning at six a.m. as if I was electrocuted. My hair in every direction, one eye closed, with my back straighter than a plank. And I’ve been running non-stop since. JD begged me to stop acting like a pinball, but I told him today’s no laughing matter. I am determined to do everything on my To Do List. Everything. I depart for the tour tomorrow and will hopefully arrive in Houston feeling like my loose ends are tied up.

That means I’ll be packing like a mad woman (if anyone has tips on packing for four weeks, hook a sistah up!), going to church, editing yesterday’s wedding, repairing a pedicure gone bad, completing my presentation, trying to catch up on email, picking up my dry cleaning, and going to dinner with my family. When I look at this list, my stomach feels like it’s riding the Tilt-A-Whirl, but if I can make it to tomorrow with my sanity in tact, I’m golden. Well, more like tarnished brass after a good cleaning, but semi-shiny nevertheless.

I’ll be blogging yesterday’s wedding from the road (with many thanks to Apple’s Leopard Operating System, I can access my main computer at home from my laptop and I’m totally synched with my programs via Apple’s Mobile Me…holllllla!), but here’s a sneak peek of what’s in store…

Happy Sunday!

Good luck with everything! You can do it 🙂

I am not the best packer but I always roll everything and that works out fairly well for casual clothes.

    See you in Santa Barbara!

With all your maddness going on, I hope you don’t mind me asking… will you be at the Dallas Free to Succeed? I’m thinking about signing up. Txs!

I’ve been a blog stalker for a while now (i’m in love with your work!), but I figured I would share some packing advice. I am always off on adventures for 4-6 weeks and try to pack as light as possible! Even though you have a million things to do today, take some time to put several different outfits together with the same basic pieces. When you have everything you think you want to take, leave a stack behind. You will never wear it all and will be happy not to have to lug it around. Oh, and those space saver bags that suck the air out are awesome, but they leave wrinkles! Have fun and safe travels!

Hey Jasmine! I always over pack, and then regret it later. Given the fact that you are on a bus, you can pack a little more and not have to worry about the airline restrictions. Lord knows I have paid my share for overweight baggage. We will be praying for your safety as you begin this fabulous tour, and that you can get everything done that you need to. See you on the 6th! Blessings. Tira J.

All I want on my wedding day is to look this perfect. First, I need a boyfriend, but that’s a minor detail. I CAN’T WAIT to see the other pictures from this wedding! =-)

i buy the biggest ziploc bags i can find and group like items- socks, delicates, skirts, shirts, etc. i roll everything (saves space and cuts down on wrinkles). i then close the bags almost all the way and squish all of the air out. next, i stuff the ziploc bags into my backpack, suitcase, whatever, (still open just a bit). once they are as compressed as possible (this usually entails sitting on/in the luggage!), i close them up.

Take a deep breath and take your list one at a time..Get the little plastic bags that you can squeeze all the air out of. See you in L.A.!

Hey, isnt it great to be working… although it makes you crazy. Can’t wait to see you in Houston on Tuesday (do you know if there is anything going on before the 6pm atarting time?) But when I read this post I am eminded of what Sandy Puc said on her tour that reminded me of myself…. Don’t tell me I am burning the candle at both ends, tell me where to get more wax!

Good luck on your travels! When my brother went on tour with his band he said the most important things he had were clean socks and underwear cause nothing is worse than running out of those. You can always wear pants and shirts over!

oh good Grapes!!! I would be worse than a pinball with that TO DO list. The only packing trip that I can suggest…is to roll everything…yep…it works and saves a lit of room and your clothes some out great. You can also use tissue paper. Anyhow best wishes on the tour…can’t wait to see the wedding!

An entire month, wow. I do not know how to pack for that! I’m guessing things that don’t need ironing are a MUST and since it’s summer there lots of tank tops and smallish items. Have fun!

You are supposed to ROLL clothes when packing as not to wrinkle them and to save space. I personally don’t think it works. Borrow things from others on the bus- no need for several curling irons/blow driers. Coordinate with friends.

Thanks for the Apple props!!! Safe travels lady!!! Oh and as far as the packing goes, try to roll things up (think like a burrito or egg roll) rather than laying the clothes out flat. It does save some room!

  33. Ashley

    July 28th, 2008 at 7:30 pm

Not that this is going to help now because you’re likely already packed, but I heard rolling your clothes helps to conserve space in a suitcase! Also, travel sizes of beauty products and making sure every piece of clothing matches the others so you don’t have to pack as much. Yeah, but these tips still don’t help MY over packing! Good luck.
