W and Rangefinder

Just when I thought I couldn’t like him any more, he goes and makes my heart flutter like a schoolgirl. I’ve had an outstanding crush on Brad Pitt since I was old enough to realize boys weren’t always going to remain the smelly, sweaty, and mean creatures who made fun of my potbelly, silver headgear protruding from my face, and tortoiseshell glasses. They might—with a stroke of good luck—morph into someone resembling a demigod with bright blue eyes, dirty blond hair, and rugged good looks.

As I grew up, however, I realized the boys? Yeah, they still don’t look like Brad.

I received my newest copy of W Magazine in the mail yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. Nah. I reverted back to the schoolgirl of yesteryear when I noticed Angelina Jolie on the cover, with photo credit attributed to Brad Pitt. Be still my beating heart. Brad’s photo essay (yes, he and I are on a first name basis because we’re cool like that) was lovely and real, but the layout was nothing short of fabulous! A ton of white, negative space, one photo to every double-page spread, the entire series done in black&white. Totally feroche. If you get the chance, definitely check it out!

Speaking of magazines, my blog was featured in the latest edition of Rangefinder Magazine in an article about blogging, its importance, and how-to’s written by Steve Tout. Special thanks to Joan Solitario for emailing me the following scan of the magazine since I have yet to receive it. The article is great for someone who’s considering a blog or just getting started in the photography business…I, obviously, couldn’t say enough good things about blogging and know my business wouldn’t be where it is today without my blog.

I realize my blog is a mix of personal stories and professional work, and while there are some readers who prefer watching grass grow than read another story about Polo, I appreciate the time people spend to stop by and say hi. It means a lot and I thank you.

Are those Microsoft "windows on your blog page? How embarrassed you must be. J/k. Just wondering what program you use to make your blog? You really are an inspiration. I went through your blog a while back and picked my favorite pics of yours and put them in a tiny collage and I carry it with me on photo shoots for inspiration when I am not having the most creative day. Thanks for everything. john Beyer

The only way I would get sick of the Polo posts is if EVERY post was about Polo…and maybe not even then! hehe! I love the way you mix up personal posts with your professional posts. I love your professional work, but it is the personal posts that make me check this blog all the time! 🙂

Jasmine, I have been coming to your website for the past 5 months or so. I LOVE your mix of personal and professional posts. Keep them coming! I am in NO way a photographer but I love my camera and just did my first "shoot" for my future sis-in-law. I studied your website for a day before the engagement shoot for ideas. The pics turned out great for a first timer.
You are amazing! Thanks for letting us share in your life a bit.

Brad Pitt’s vision behind the camera, definitely makes his sliver of the dreamiest man alive widen slightly… And I have to say once again how much your blog not only initially inspired me to start mine, but how daily it brings a descriptive telling of every wonderfully quirky thing that makes you you. I’m sure it will always bring a smile to my face to scroll down your page, whether it be filled with your fabulous photographs or yet another proclamation of love for Polo. 🙂

Funny story… I knew someone once who worked at a Hollywood Video. When one of Brad Pitt’s movies came out, they had a huge cardboard cut out of him at the store. Instead of throwing it away, he gave it to me when they were done with it. It was sitting in our house and one night when my dad came home, he thought there was an intruder in our house and was getting ready to attack until he flipped on the light and saw that it was just Brad 🙂

How funny. I’m a BRAD fan too! I even have 3 huge framed posters stored away somewhere from his "legends of the fall" days. ha ha. I got that same W issue this month and was as SUPER-ly impressed as you. Ever page turned was like WOW. But I love Angelina too, she is just a drop-dead gorgeous natural beauty. But I think her charity work & serving as a goodwill ambassador makes her even MORE BEAUTIFUL! oh yea…CONGRATS on your feature in Rangefinder Mag. AWESOME.

We saw Brad at Sammy’s Camera in LA about 8yrs ago buying a Leica and we would see him drop off and pick up film at A&I in Hollywood back in our film days. We would hear what a good photographer he was and its nice to finally see his work.
