I heard you.

*No, I wasn’t peeping in your bedroom (ew!) or creeping on your phone call with your mom (booooring!).*

I heard you on social media, duh!

Recently, I’ve heard the number one thing people want when it comes to social media is *drumroll please*… more followers.

So what’s stopping them?

• “I don’t know what else to do.”
• “My business isn’t established enough.”
• “I’m not interesting enough.”

Albert Einstein defined insanity as: doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different result.

If what you’re doing now isn’t working, then let’s talk about what is! Here are 3 steps to get more social media followers (WITHOUT paying for ads).

Step 1: Understand Why People Follow You In The First Place

The vast majority of those reading this post right now have at least a few social media followers. 

So ask yourself: why do random strangers follow you in the first place?

• Is it because they like your clothing?
• Do they think your kid is cute?
• Are they interested in your advice on a certain subject?

Write the answer(s) down on a piece of paper or the Notes app in your phone, and then move on to Step 2.

Step 2: Keep it Simple, Less is More

If you understand why people follow you in the first place and double-down on that, you will probably realize: less is more.

Because friend, if you focus on what you don’t have, it will never be enough! Focus on the followers you DO have and your tribe will grow without you even trying.

Step 3: Share More of Your Why

Simon Sinek said, “People don’t buy WHAT you do, they buy WHY you do it.”

Whether it’s representing other women of color in a predominantly white industry or making a better life for your kids, share more of why you do what you do and you will gain more followers who stand behind that mission, too.

There you have it, friend: 3 steps to get more social media followers without paying for ads!

If you know why people are following you in the first place, you realize that less is more, and you know you need to share more of your why… that leads to engagement, which leads to more followers, and eventually more customers.
