The easiest way to define your team member’s role and responsibilities is to look at the tasks that you are spending most of your time doing.

>>As the CEO of your business, you should only be doing tasks that require your personality and expertise.<<

First, outline the responsibilities of this new team member’s role and approximately how long they should take.

*Remember, because this is YOUR business, you can likely do many tasks faster than someone coming from the outside learning you, your business, and your systems.*

Some examples of things many small business owners need help with are:

  • Filing receipts
  • Set up client questionnaires
  • Answering emails
  • Sending reminders to your clients
  • Organizing your schedule

Then, search online for people who provide similar services, see what the average pay is for this type of work, and make sure it is within your budget by consulting an accountant or by simply crunching the numbers in your business.

>>Once you know what tasks you need someone to fulfill, how long they should take, and the pay structure, you’re ready to create a job opportunity page!<<

If you’re wondering where and how to create a job opportunity page to receive applications, what questions to ask potential candidates in interviews, and how to onboard your new team member properly, How to Make Your First Hire for Your Small Business will walk you through it step by step!
