Can I Give You A Gift?

“You’re in the room because you have something to give.” – Fawn Weaver.

I’ve never been to Vermont.  I’ve never skied, I’ve never worn snow pants, and I’ve never been in a room of 8-figure entrepreneurs who built the world’s best sales teams.

And yet, I found myself flying across the country to say yes to new things.

But saying yes to new things sounds great, until you’re actually doing it.

Newness often feels like holding fool’s gold:  shiny and hopeful, but leaves you feeling, well, foolish.

I started feeling out of place when the event organizers sent the attire recommendations (Welcome Gala – wear Alpine chic, winter white out!)…

I worried a little more when the itinerary allocated plenty of time to ski Stratton Mountain (Will there be activities for brown girls who’ve never even ridden a toboggan?)

I broke out into a cold sweat realizing that many people in the 8-figure mastermind are generating more money in one month than I’m generating all year.

Then I remembered a podcast interview I did with Fawn Weaver, an incredible entrepreneur who once told me that she walks into every room like she owns it.

And I believed her.  Fawn doesn’t necessarily embody the energy of her namesake.  (If she had a name that reflected her energy, it’d be less baby deer, and more mama lion.)

Her piercing green eyes dared me to doubt her, in fact, she invited it.  She loves to prove people wrong.

But what she loves more?  Helping people win.

She told me that she’s in rooms far beyond her imagination because she knows she has something to give.  While she acknowledges that inequities exist in all facets of life and business, she believes we all have unique experiences and insights that are powerful in their own right.

Minutes before stepping into the Welcome Gala (adjusting what I hoped was an Alpine chic outfit…but, really, what did that even mean?!), I whispered under my breath, give, give, give.

My value—and yours—doesn’t reside in what we’ve done or have, but, rather, in what we share.

We all have something to give, and I hope you walk into your day with your head held high, and lion-vibes. Give, give, give.

Lastly, I documented my trip on video, so I can’t wait to share all my insights and what I learned with you in an upcoming podcast.  I look forward to bringing you in the room with me.

To walking into new rooms like we own them,

j*
