Does this ever happen to you?
A prospective client or customer sends you a DM to learn more about what you offer. You respond back (right away!) with all the details.
And then… crickets.
You never hear from them again.
If you’re nodding your head, you’re not alone… in fact, inside the Social Curator Community, I recently shared top tips for exactly what to do to say goodbye to those crickets and hello to sales instead.
Here’s the Cliff Notes version:
Step 1: Add a clear call to action to your DM response.
Share the details and invite the follower to book a session, reply with questions, purchase a special bundle, etc.
Step 2: Set a reminder to follow up 24-48 hours later.
Simply reply back and ask if they have any questions!
Step 3: Ask a question.
Share interest in the person who DM’d you and get to know them a bit more. If you’re a microblading business, ask if they’ve had microblading done before. If you sell handmade soaps, ask about their favorite scents. Building relationships is KEY to closing sales.
Step 4: Give engagement.
After you respond to the prospective client or customer, go to their account and like a recent post, comment on a story, etc. Show that you genuinely care about them!
Step 5: Link to a demo of your product or service in your DM.
This doesn’t have to be fancy – it could even be a before and after Reel you’ve made in the past. Just show them a bit more about what you offer!
Want to start implementing these steps in your DMs this week? If you’re not yet getting DMs from interested followers, you can start by sending relationship-building DMs to anyone who likes one of your posts.
Here’s a template to use:
Hey [first name]! Thanks so much for __________ [liking my recent post/commenting on my latest Reel/etc.]. __________ [Engaging question (Did you like my dog’s cameo at the end?). I appreciate you for being here! Please let me know if you have any questions about __________ [what I do/how we can serve you/etc.].
