Friend, do you shudder when you think about going Live on Facebook or Instagram for your business?

*I get it!*

I made the choice to start going Live on Facebook and Instagram once a week several years ago.

At first, it was incredibly awkward and I was so nervous that my voice was shaking for the first 5 minutes of every video.

>>But I knew the importance of going Live and the more I showed up despite that discomfort, the better results I saw.<<

Although I don’t believe that the amount of followers you have is that important (a profitable business is!), I have to tell you that Instagram Live has not only doubled my following, but has also increased my visibility in the algorithm, resulted in more DM’s, and more people on my newsletter list.

It’s for this reason that I believe that EVERY business owner should use the Live feature to show up consistently and demonstrate who they are, what they do, and how they can help their audience.

*Seriously: If you’ve got something to sell, going Live is like QVC on your dang phone!*

Today I’m going to give you 3 elements of a successful Live video in under 3 minutes. Let’s do this!

Thesis

What is the overall point that you want to make in your Live video? Summarize it in a powerful statement and showcase it in the beginning of your slides. *Yes Buttercup, you CAN show slides on both Facebook and Instagram Live!*

Your thesis will set the stage for your Live video by telling your followers what they’ll learn and why they should keep watching.

An example of a great thesis for a home chef could be, “The secret to cooking delicious paella is a mix of herbs and spices that I’ll show you how to make in your kitchen.”

Supporting Ideas

Bridge the gap of your thesis statement by providing two or three supporting ideas. This helps decrease overwhelm not only for you, but for your viewers! Be informative. Be inspirational. Be #allthethings!

An example of 3 supporting ideas for a home chef could be:

1. What you’ll need to make the spice mix at home

2. Where to find the best shellfish for paella

3. How to choose the best rice for paella

Conclusion

This is where you tie everything up for the viewer to ensure they understand every concept related to your initial thesis. Repeat the title of the presentation, the thesis, the supporting details for the presentation, and thank viewers for joining. Then, take the time to answer any questions that viewers have asked during the Live video.

This is a great buffer to let people get to know you and your business. You should also tell viewers where they can find more information about your product or services *i.e. your website or blog*!

So there you have it, friend: 3 Elements of a Successful Live Video!
