How to Plan for Your Next Branding Photoshoot

Listen boo, I know how awkward it can feel getting your photo taken.

*Like, umm, WHAT DO I DO WITH MY HANDS?*

BUT, showing the person behind the business *AKA you* is the ticket to really connecting with your followers.

>>Your audience wants to know who you are, and there’s no better introduction on social media than showing your smiling face.<<

*In other words, suck it up, Buttercup, and say cheeeeese!*

Lucky for you, photography is still my jam and I’ve got all the tips and tricks you need RIGHT HERE! Read on to learn six ways to plan and get organized for your brand photoshoot so you can show up confidently on camera!

1. Choose Outfits

Pick a few outfits that show the different sides of you, from casual, to workout, to professional attire.

>>Posting pictures of the real you will create relatability which will spark conversations and create opportunities to build relationships.<<

2. Select Props

Choose several props that relate to your business and also give a lifestyle spin to your photoshoot. This could be anything from a laptop, cell phone, notebook, pen, or even tools of your trade, like a paint brush, camera, or dog leash.

>>When choosing your props, make sure they are a visual representation of you and your business.<<

3. Gather Ideas

*Hellooooo, Pinterest!*

Creating a mood board will help gather the vibe, editing style, poses, and even location of what you’re hoping to capture. Have this board available during your photoshoot or send it to your photographer ahead of time so both of you are on the same page.

4. Get Inspired

Look at your favorite accounts on Instagram for inspiration to help when it comes time to execute your photoshoot. Try creating various collections of poses, backdrops, and lighting based on your personality and business.

*Tip: Don’t forget to save these photos by tapping on the flag icon on the bottom right hand side of the post so they are just a click away come photoshoot time!*

5. Choose Your Photographer

This is the bread and butter of this entire process…and my favorite part!

I like to start by searching Instagram hashtags based on where the photos will take place. Looking through photos and seeing different styles and editing really helps to select a photographer.

*BUT*, you don’t need a professional photographer for every photoshoot!

>>The best camera you have is the one that’s on you.<<

You can take a lot of your own photos from your phone by simply finding natural, soft light and setting a self-timer!

6. Use photos

After all of your hard work planning out the photoshoot, don’t forget to actually USE the photos!

Post 2-3 branded photos each week to infuse your personality into your account and get followers excited to know you better!

>>The biggest goal of a brand photoshoot is to create content so people will STOP scrolling and START double tapping, commenting, and saving your photos.<<

Friend, I hope these ideas helped spark some excitement to start planning your own photoshoot! I’d love to see how you use these photos to create a brand extension for your business on social media!
