Out with the old, and in with the new!
*Okay, okay. That’s a little cliche, I knowwww. Stick with me!*
The end of the year is my favorite time of all.
As we head into a new year, I always take a step back and look at my systems and processes to evaluate if I can make them more efficient.
One of my most frequently used processes is that of planning content. In fact, this year I don’t feel the need to reevaluate it at all because it’s become a science.
While planning out social media content used to feel like such a chore, *even a full time job!* It has now become something I look forward to spending a few minutes each Sunday doing.
>>If you don’t already have a social media planning routine, let me give you mine!<<
Best of all, it’s a process that you can replicate every week to simplify social media and make showing up consistently a breeze.
Sounds pretty fantastic, right? Let’s dive in!
Caption Categories
First, come up with a set of caption categories that empower you to talk about your business without always pitching your service or product.
I use the 7 Social Curator caption categories and focus on one each day:
- Behind the Scenes
- My Why
- Personal Insight
- Encouragement
- About Me
- Benefits
- Showcase Your Product/Service
Visual Topics
Similarly to caption categories, you can also select visual topics that represent you and your brand instantaneously anytime your posts scroll across your follower’s feed.
The best part is this allows you to batch your visuals in advance and save time each week when creating content.
For example, my visual topics are:
- Family
- Podcasting
- Coffee
- Photography
- Work Life
- A Quote
- The Social Curator Team
- Me
Content Type
Finally, decide what type of content you will be posting each day.
Each platform has its own specifications and names for each type of content, but in reality there are just a few types of content you could choose from:
- Photo
- Long-form video
- Short-form video
- Live video
- Stories
- Reels/TikTok
To create your content for the week all you need to do is select one option from each category and create a piece of content that represents it!
For example, on Monday you might pair an About Me caption with a photo of you. On Tuesday, you could pair a Behind the Scenes caption with a Reel of you making coffee.
It may take some time in the beginning to become accustomed to, but before you know it, you’ll be creating content in a matter of minutes!
