Happy Saint Patrick's Day, my little leprechauns! I hope the luck of the Irish is with you today.
Speaking of luck, I was just thinking about the concept of luck and how it does or does not play into business.
What are your thoughts:
- Do you see a successful business and think, “boy that person got lucky”?
- Or do you look at a successful business and see all the hard work that went in and believe that luck had nothing to do with it?
When I look back at my career, the thought of being in the right place at the right time seems unlikely, but I can't help wondering if some divine intervention played a part.
*Like how else would a girl from the hood be running a multi million dollar business?!*
I believe that…
>>Luck is when preparation meets opportunity<<
Luck is a really fun and pretty commercialized way of giving yourself an excuse. Friend, it's easy to say that somebody else had something that you didn't have.
But I don’t think anybody with wealth, affluence, or notoriety did not work for what they got.
- There are too many people who are rich and live in obscurity.
- There are too many amazing actors who nobody knows about.
- There are really great athletes that simply because they did not do the work did not get the results they desired.
>>I believe when you build your business, you should put your head down with humility and do the thing that you love without knowing what is on the other side.<<
Baby boo if you start a business to get rich quick, you're never going to get there. If you're using social media just to become famous, you're never going to get there.
When you look around at the people who are creating waves in the world and the people who have wild and amazing amounts of fans on the internet, it wasn't because they were good looking, rich, funny or witty.
>>These were people who loved what they did so much that they were able to show people along the way how they made it happen.<<
If you're sitting here looking at other people, asking yourself, “Why am I not as lucky as they are…?” I would ask you to dig a little deeper and instead ask, “Why am I not doing the things that they are doing?”
