Let me take you behind the scenes of one of my favorite business conversations to date.
In this episode of the Jasmine Star Show, I sat down with Adam Schafer—serial entrepreneur, fitness educator, and co-founder of the Mind Pump Podcast—to talk about real business growth.
Now, here’s the kicker: I had no clue who Adam was until we met in a curated mastermind group (shoutout to Hampton!). But when we started talking, I knew this conversation had to make its way to your earbuds.
Adam has built an 8-figure empire alongside three partners, not by chasing VC money, but by doubling down on value, consistency, and community. In this episode, he pulls back the curtain on:
- Why bootstrapped founders often undervalue their success (guilty! 🙋🏻♀️)
- The exact moment he realized his team-built business was the envy of founders who’d sold for hundreds of millions
- How they grew Mind Pump from awkward, ghetto-style YouTube episodes to tens of thousands of downloads per episode
- Why providing value without monetizing for the first YEAR paid off big-time
- The critical difference between a business brand, a team brand, and a personal brand
Adam doesn’t hold back. He’s a straight shooter with a no-B.S. approach to entrepreneurship—and I love him for it. We get honest about how hard it is to build something from scratch… and how worth it it is when you find alignment, clarity, and community.
We also dive deep into the behind-the-scenes of building a content-driven business, learning to trust yourself, and how to navigate partnerships when your vision feels bigger than your comfort zone.
If you’ve ever wondered:
- “Can I really build a multi-million dollar brand without investors?”
- “What do I do when my content is valuable, but no one’s watching yet?”
- “How do I build a business with my friends and not kill each other?”
…this episode is your sign to keep going.
This isn’t just a conversation about business. It’s a reminder that grit is your greatest asset, awkward is a phase (not a curse), and value always finds its way to the surface.

Adam Schafer
You know the one guy in every room who’s taller and more jacked than everyone else? That’s Adam Schafer. The funny thing is… he wouldn’t even know if any of that was true. He’s too busy being himself to worry about how he measures up against the crowd. Adam’s individuality has always set him apart from the rest of the fitness industry. In a game of follow-the-leader, you can bet he’d never be staring at anyone’s back. He managed some of the largest fitness clubs in the Bay Area and along the way collected eight national certifications, a pro-card in bodybuilding, and enough Jordans to make Google Maps mistake his closet for Footlocker. But his greatest success was Mind Pump. While mature enough now to grow organically, in the beginning it was a business born from labor. And it was Adam’s competitive drive that nudged and nurtured it to become what it is today, so successful that YouTube auto fills “Mind Pump” before “Miley Cyrus.” At the end of the day, Adam builds businesses. He builds businesses that reach and help more people than any two hands ever could.
