During my early years as a photographer, I found myself hanging on for a wild ride. If I left a wedding disappointed because I hadn’t captured things how I wanted, I foolishly thought it was par for the course and that was how the cookie crumbled (yes, I'll use any sort of dessert metaphor when I can). As my business matured, I realized I needed to be in control of those portions of the day when I wanted specific photos captured. For bridal prep, this control came with advanced prep of the area where the bride dresses, finding favorable light and directing the subject into it, and trusting my instincts to capture those desired shots.
