Should You Create a Timeline for Your Business Goals?

I was Live on Facebook when I saw Abigail’s comment: “I need my business to be successful ASAP.”

*Oh, honey… where did your timeline come from?*

As business owners, we often say things like:

  • I want my product to do X sales in Y amount of time.
  • My goal is to make X dollars this year.
  • The plan is to welcome X new members by Y date.

But, again, I ask Abigail and any other entrepreneurs reading this post: Where did that timeline come from?

Because I have to be honest with you, Buttercup…

>>I have been in business for 13 years, but I have NEVER met success on the timeline  that I imagined.<<

Everyone wants their business to be successful ASAP… but just because we want it, doesn’t mean we’re guaranteed it.

And if we don’t reach our goals on our timeline, it doesnt mean we’re dumb, behind, or a failure… it just means we need to learn new lessons before we can reach new heights.

So should you create a timeline for your business goals? Yes. Goal-setting is a necessary part of knowing where you’re going and how you’ll get there.

But friend, let’s not deceive ourselves into thinking our business HAS to reach those goals by certain dates in order for us to be successful.

>>Success comes in many different ways, shapes, and forms… and often, in ways we couldn’t have predicted when creating our vision board.<<

I believe that you are exactly where you’re supposed to be, and I hope you do, too.
