The Garrison New York Wedding : Gopi+Eric

She asked out of town guests to bring sunshine in their back pocket with them to New York. The forecast of 100% rain on her wedding day, but Gopi hoped nature would bend the rules, just this time. Her wedding was almost a decade in the making and she wanted nothing more than to marry her soul mate on a beautiful day in the Hudson Valley.

Eric and Gopi met in college during their freshman year. They became friends and quickly aligned their schedules to ensure their free time was spent together. When Eric returned home on a holiday break, he admitted to his best friend there was a girl in the picture.

Years later, the picture never changed…the colors just became richer and the story became more apparent. They moved to New York City together and began planning a perfect day to wed. The morning of the wedding, the skies poured. The grey clouds danced overhead, but in a stroke of luck, they parted just before the ceremony. Surrounded by their friends and family, Gopi and Eric held hands against the fall leaves and bright colors of a place they love. Together they started a new chapter in life, realizing that even in the midst of a storm, the sun will always come out in the end.

Gopi and Eric, thank you sooooo much for inviting me to experience New York in a new way…an experience what it feels like to be surrounded by some of the most amazing family and friends. Your love is beautiful, kind, and incredibly thoughtful. Thank you for making me fall more in love with what I do. Much Love and Appreciation… j*

The day started tucked away in the warmth of The Garrison, located in the Hudson Valley. As rain fell outside, bridal preparation continued on with full belief the skies would clear…

Gopi and Eric planned a wedding that incorporated both their cultures. The bride wore a stunning indian wedding dress and the bridesmaids donned brightly colored saris…

I loved photographing the textures, colors, and intricate patterns…so different than a western wedding dress, but I loved it equally as much!

I loved the henna so much I wanted to join the party and have it done myself!

Eric and Gopi opted to see each other before the wedding ceremony (which was SO great given the inclimate weather), and to say Eric was happy to see his bride would be an understatement…

The bride and groom decided to take wedding photos in the rain, so they grabbed an umbrella and made of the best of it around The Garrison

It was lovely being able to photograph a mix of indian and western cultures at this wedding…

Gopi and her bridesmaids had such an amazing chemistry together…lifelong friends who've seen Gopi and Eric's love blossom over the years…

The wedding ceremony had sweeping views of the Hudson Valley and it was a beautiful day…

Part of the Hindu ceremony required the bride and groom to walk around the ceremony site while flowers were thrown at them…

After the wedding ceremony, we were able to catch a hint of sunset…who could ask for more?

The First Dance…

There were beautiful and heartfelt toasts…

…not to be outdone by one crazy dance floor…

I'll end with this happy photo…nothing like a photo booth to make a wedding complete…

Many thanks to the amazing team who made this wedding come to life…
