The Side Effects of Having a Business

If you knew the side effects you’d experience from having a business before you started, would you keep going?

Oh, friend. If your answer isn’t, “HECK YES!” allow me to share what’s in store if you keep chasing that dream of yours…

The Side Effects of Business

After taking a daily dose of scrappy action and hustle, the side effects I’ve experienced from my business are:

  • Confidence,
  • Belief, and
  • Success!

Me, the daughter of an immigrant who never in her entire life knew anyone who had started a business–much less knew anything about starting a business–was able to start a business, and build a thriving life.

Side effects also include the ability to:

  • Be a mother,
  • A wife,
  • A daughter,
  • A friend, and
  • STILL build my business.

Not only did building a business cure the ache I had in my heart to live a more fulfilling life, but it also became my passport.

My business was a passport that gave me permission to:

  • No longer be relegated to do things that I didn’t want to do.
  • No longer be relegated to feeling like I couldn’t reach my potential.
  • No longer be shackled by things that wouldn’t let me do what I really wanted to do.

Make no mistake… the side effects of business can also include:

  • Stress,
  • Overwhelm,
  • Imposter Syndrome,
  • Late nights,
  • Early mornings, and
  • A whole lot more!

If you decide to pursue your BIG dream, you’ll no doubt experience some (if not all) of these side effects.

You may not want what I want, and I probably don’t want what you want. Guess what? That’s beautiful, and that’s ok!

Success looks different for everyone, and shouldn’t be defined by anyone but yourself.

No matter what kind of business you want to build or success you hope to create, what I do know to be true is this:

>>Your life shouldn’t fit your business. Your business should fit your life.<<

Maybe that looks like you enjoying a side hustle as a hobby while thriving in your full-time job.

Maybe that means you work a part-time job so that you can pursue your dream without worrying about your kids’ healthcare.

Maybe that looks like building your business an hour a day… consistently

Wherever you are in your business journey…

  • It’s never too late to start.
  • It’s never too late to change directions.
  • It’s never too late to pick up where you left off.

Whatever you do, DON’T QUIT. Keep going so that when someone asks you what the side effects of your business are, you can say:

  • Gratitude,
  • Resilience, and
  • Success!

Hot Dang! I believe I’ve been put on this earth to make you believe:

  • It’s time to stop playing small.
  • It’s time to stop making excuses.
  • It’s time to believe what’s possible.

Celebrate the journey. Celebrate the work ethic your dream takes. Celebrate standing in your power.

Consider this your calling to show up differently, and do the work, because the only cure for that dream in your heart is to keep going.

Remember: your success is a foregone conclusion, so go ahead and start celebrating the side effects of your business now!
