The WORKSHOP : Chicago

Chicago is a city that holds a special place in my heart. It's a perfect blend of midwestern charm and big city dreams. Having the opportunity to host a photography workshop in Illinois was something I looked forward to with eager anticipation and excitement…it also helped that I was meeting 20 amazing photographers!

The day started as grey and rainy, but by the time the afternoon rolled around, it was beyond bright…and hot! Lucky for us we were able to watch the changing weather from a gorgeous view of Robyn Rachel‘s studio in Chicago. She graciously hosted us and imparted her local wisdom to attendees…I, of course, was smitten with her because she's my former bride, so it was awesome to share her space for the day!

Due to the crazy weather, we planned to shoot both indoors and outdoors and I was incredibly excited to shoot at Salvage One in Chicago. It's a vintage store, but also serves as an amazing and unique wedding venue…and it just so happened to be across from Robyn's studio!

The shoot was about an hour and a half, so at the beginning, I explained what I was looking for in terms of light, posing, and movement. It was awesome because everyone was brimming with questions and also had the opportunity to shoot…

I need to take a moment to express heartfelt thanks to the amazing creative team who came together to make the photos at Salvage One possible…

“Some days you wonder how to be different from others or how to stand out amongst the thousands of others wanting to become the next wedding photographer. Jasmine gives a positive vibe, an emotion, an inspiration, an understanding through her words to make me keep pushing through….to keep my heart & mind on the right track and for that I am more than THANKFUL!”Jennifer Soots

One of the most difficult things on a wedding day is shooting in bright, harsh sunlight, but I taught the photographers the tips I use to leverage light in a complimentary way…

“I really just wanted to give you a big heartfelt thank you. You really made me feel like you were all-in. Like you really cared about our success and you were going to do your darndest to give us everything you had…you and JD both.” – Kaitlin Hansen

We were lucky enough to work with Jen and Jimmy as our models…they've been married a few years and have a baby together, but the chemistry they share looks like two high schoolers in love!

Jen, you are beyonnnnnnd gorgeous. Really.

“Wow… I cannot even put into words how much the time you spent investing in me as an attendee has motivated, inspired and blessed me. I can honestly say investing in your workshop was the very best investment I've made in my business yet… – Caitlin Alexander

Every corner of Salvage One is stunning for wedding photos…and Jen just shined.
