Toronto Engagement Photos : Janet+John

John was always good with numbers. He loved math because it challenged him, but the lure of one, right answer intrigued him. John soon pursued his passion by teaching high school students, filling his days with mathematical engineering projects. He was invited one night to play softball with friends and it was there he saw Janet and took an instant liking to her.

A few years–and a few missteps–later, John built up the courage to ask her to be his girlfriend. Janet remembers the day because it was filled with hope and romance, John remembers the date because he so excitedly recounted, “It was Pi Day…who can forget Pi Day?!”

Yes, Pi. The numerical value that goes on ad infinitum. 3.14159….

Janet smiles because while she didn't realize it was Pi Day, she can now appreciate the idea that Pi– complete with its endless numbers–signifies the mathematical product of eternity. Their love, much like the number, will go for all time.

John inquired about my ability to be their wedding photographer, but I was, unfortunately, booked. Undeterred, John planned a surprise proposal in Toronto, Canada and shortly thereafter informed Janet I'd be flying into town the next day for their engagement session. I was beyond happy to be part of such a special moment!

It was a freezing day in Toronto, but they opted to have an indoor session for their photos…to say this couple is fun would be an understatement. I mean, it's not normal for people to bust out the wave at a moment's notice!

I'm particularly fond of Janet. Not only is she kind, thoughtful and a talented photographer, she attended my photography workshop back in 2011. She's since gone to do great things and submersed herself in the photo world full time. She's just one of those people you immediately want to hug upon meeting her!

Janet and John are foodies. They love to cook, eat, dine, photograph all things food related, so it was befitting for them to make a meal together and enjoy a glass of wine. Janet, a girl after my own heart, prefers to manage the cooking endeavors instead of actually making the meal! 😉

Janet was looking beautiful with her makeup done by Velsie Mak, but John was looking extra dapper in his Tytan Bowtie!

With the meal warming and their glasses filled, they enjoyed a evening doing what they do best: loving, toasting, and enjoy time together…

Happy Tuesday!
