Want Moments, Not Things

Want Moments, Not Things

The TSA agent was patting me down. I just walked through the airport scanner and the alarm sounded. I apologized and scrambled to remove the cell phone from my back pocket. As she followed procedure and patted me down, she turned and yelled at the agent in the next line, It’s like they say…you always want what someone else has!

They umm-hmph’d each other from a distance.

As I boarded my flight from San Francisco, her words rang in my ear. If this was true–we desire what resides in the possession of others–I told myself to want moments, not things…happiness, joy, contentment. Sometimes it’s easy to look on the outside and wish for more, but behind simplicity sits life’s most beautiful memories.

Happy Friday, friends.

This is so true Jasmine! I live humbly, but happy. I may not have the "material things" others may have, but I have a great Husband, a home, and family. I couldn’t ask God for more. I am truly happy where I am at.

What an awkward thing to hear someone yell while they’re patting you down! Though, I suppose there really is no polite conversation topic for that situation! 🙂

What I really want is to watch my 2.5 year old’s face light up when she sees Mickey Mouse again. A trip to Disneyland isn’t a thing – it’s a million different moments.
Or at least that’s what I’ll try to sell to my husband.

How true !!! Moments are so much more important than things! Keep in mind: You can "buy" moments … but the best are the ones you can’t buy … 🙂

I couldn’t agree more and like the way you think. It’s those little moments that makes us who we are. And it’s those little moments that take us by surprise that we should cherish the most.
