A Belated Celebration + Promises Made Over Bubbly

When I tell people we worked on our anniversary, they usually raise their eyebrows. I respond to their silent questioning by explaining that, no really, we were happy with this decision. I'm not the type of girl who needs a candlelit dinner and a heart-shaped box of chocolate. While nice, I understand that our profession requires us to work on weekends.

This year we shot a wedding on September 28th and couldn't be happier to share an anniversary with an amazing couple. During the reception (while guests were eating dinner), JD and I shared a meal on a private veranda overlooking the hills of Virginia. In our own way, we celebrated. Happily.

In light of postponing our anniversary celebration, JD planned a getaway trip to Seattle last weekend. It's one of our favorite cities, so he organized a couple days full of eating, exploring, and our first-ever NFL game.

I've never been much of a football watcher, but experiencing the Seattle Seahawks beat the Tennessee Titans was so much fun. I cheered things like FIRST DOWN!…and WAY TO GO CHEERLEADERS! because I'm all about equal treatment in the sports world. Obvs.

Sometimes life can throw a lot your way…but it's nice to escape and find your footing, somewhere away from the norm. We shared a great meal at the ever-delicious MKT and toasted with glasses filled with amber bubbly. He promised to stay true, and I promised to get better, to find myself again. We clinked and drank the goodness eight years has given us.
