A few days ago, I asked for gift ideas for photographers. Someone responded with, “I have a friend that is an accountant but I would not buy her accounting software for Christmas.” I had to laugh because I couldn't disagree more. Photographers aren't stuck with numbers and books all day…heck, if I was an accountant, I wouldn't want accounting software either! Us photographers are obsessed with our cameras and they've morphed into a valve that leads directly into our hearts. I like photo-related gifts because it reminds me of how lucky I am do what I love.
So, there.
If you're anything like me and want to find gifts to give to the {crazy} photographer in your life, here are few options for less than $100…
A book that was actually gifted to me is a great place to start my list of suggestions…The Mind's Eye by Henri Cartier-Bresson
For those long nights of editing, why not get a bit of relief with this lens shot glass…then you can say you take great shots. (was that a lame joke??)
Okay, so you GUYS!! Look at this thing! A Photorito Lens Wrap…it's a wrap you place around your lens to make it look like a burrito. I die. I don't know if I think it's cute because I'm Mexican, but for fellow burrito lovers, this one's for you.
Lomography Diana + Dreamer Camera from Urban Outfitters
I'm not into vintage cameras, but this stationary tape makes me swoon…I love all things cute and I think this is an adorable touch to a personal note… Vintage Camera Washi Tape
I'm a huge fan of the Canon 50mm, 1.2 lens, but for $100, you can start with the Canon 50mm 1.8…such a great starter lens!
I debated buying this for JD as a subtle hint to start arriving on time…I mean, what photographer wouldn't like an F-stop watch?
Lastly, I'll end with one of my favorite photo books. JD gifted it to me last year and it still melts my heart when I turn the pages…so stunningly beautiful…Vivian Maier
