Mallory and James : Engagement

Mallory made her weekly commute to her church youth group meeting. As she pulled into the parking lot, she saw an unfamiliar face sitting in the back of his truck. An unfinished beast of an auto, James’ truck stood like a forsaken monument to classic Americana. With the back gate open, he sat in the falling sunlight of a Canyon Country day. Where James saw beauty on four wheels, Mallory simply saw an old car in need of some major work, in a major way.

Mallory met James when she was 15 years old and—despite his choice of automobile—immediately fell in love with his huge heart, warm arms, and caring smile. Through the years, they’ve grown together and their hearts now beat in unison. They’ll wed this May in the town where they met and fell in love, the place of their childhood hopes and dreams.

When asked about James’ love affair with refurbishing cars, Mallory simply smiles and says she loves his truck just as much as he does. Which, one can easily assume, is the sign of true love: accepting every ounce and fiber of one who has become the bearer of your heart.

We began the engagement session in a Canyon Country park that had some insane light…I left Orange County (complete with grey skies and rain) in the morning, and arrived later that same day in a town that seemed like it had its own time, space and climate!

After the nearby park, we headed to Mallory's childhood home to finish the session…and OF COURSE we had to snap a few (or a lot!) of pictures with James' truck! 😉
