Office Workspace vs Studio Workspace

Dear Jasmine,
Was wondering if you would be willing to do a blog post or even just a few pics of your workspace (and JD's too)? Do you both have desktops? Each use a laptop? Are you integrating ipads into your work?
As more and more technology becomes available, it's always interesting to know how others are utilizing it.
Be well,
Wondering About Workspace

Dear Wondering,
I debated posting this entry today because I wanted my office to be completed. You see, we moved into a new home back in August and guess what? My office is still undecorated. I blame the chaos of wedding season, I blame not watching enough home decor shows, I blame Nate Berkus for not being my neighbor. But here's the kicker: I actually ordered furniture and decor back in August…and it hasn't arrived. I called West Elm yesterday and the customer service agent said it's still three weeks out. Apparently they're whittling my furniture with their teeth.

Why am I telling you this? I'm EXPLAINING why my office is barren. Because, really, it's kinda embarrassing.

Before I begin, I need to clarify that I have two working spaces: my office and the studio. I meet clients, have meetings, and connect at the studio, but when it comes to daily workings, I prefer the office. I envisioned working at the studio every day, but then I realized I'd have to wear something beyond sweatpants and an oversized t-shirt, I was all, Staying at home rulez! I blame being homeschooled for this behavior.

We converted a bedroom in our home for the office, so while it's not big, it suits my needs. My workspace is rather simple: I edit/make slideshows/upload/download on my 30-inch Mac and handle all other work on my 15-inch MacBook pro. I adore my laptop and take it with me everywhere. I haven't been able to embrace the iPad because there are moments when I need to work while on the road and it limited what I was able to do. In light of this, my laptop is my appendage.

JD works solely from his 17-inch MacBook pro. He's itching to get the retina display, so let's see if Santa puts him on the Good List this Christmas. We work in different parts of the house, but he occasionally hangs out in the office so we can brainstorm/plan/have thumb wars, so the mobility of his laptop is priceless.

Because we travel quite a bit, my laptop is hooked up to my desktop by way of GoToMyPC.com. I can access files I need at any time, so I don't feel tethered to any one computer. I love the freedom of working where and when I choose, so this application has been wonderful. I also keep current projects on Dropbox in case I need to access a large quantity of photos at a moment's notice. Lastly, my clients' online galleries are accessible to me as long as I have a wifi connection, so if I need a photo or want to place an order for, say, a canvas, I have all my bases covered.

So that's it. That's my workspace. In summary, my workspace is largely mobile, but when I'm editing, I'm seated at my desk with a cup of tea and lots of Post-It notes.
