Darlington House Wedding : Lise+Grant

Their wedding day began with the sounds of crashing waves along the coast of La Jolla, just north of San Diego. Lise called the charming town home her entire life, but it wasn't until Grant entered the picture when she realized that home could reside both in a zip code and wherever he was. Together they've carved a space in the world that belongs to wherever their hearts intertwine.

Lise and Grant ensured their family and friends were invited not just to partake in a wedding ceremony, but also the moment when their hearts grew to encompass the merging of two families, lives, and hopes. Enclosed within the whitewashed walls of the Darlington House in La Jolla, cheers ascended from the garden as Lise and Grant became husband and wife. Together they walked down the aisle and into the future as their loved ones showered them with blessings as only two sweet, amazing, and kind people deserve.

Lise and Grant, thank you…a million times over. Standing amongst your friends and family made me realize the love you both share is nothing short of magical. You draw people in with your warmth and make them fall in love with your personalities…but you keep them by your side with your character. For this and so much more, thank you for allowing me to document your amazing love. Much Love and Appreciation… j*

Wedding day preparation took place at the Grand Colonial Hotel, where the bride dressed on the rooftop with stunning views of the ocean on a gorgeous overcast day…I lovelovelove when brides opt to dress outdoors to capture stunning prep photos…

Ohhhhh, Lise, go onnnnn. You are stunning…truly. Inside and out.
Thank you for giving me the time and space to create…and your trust to let me have my way. All day! 😉

Lise was a free-flowing, casual bride and her bridesmaids were oodles of fun (yes, I use oodles in every day talk). They made the day effortless and easy…

When I arrive and see a beautiful invitation suite set up for me to photograph, my heart sings. The lovely team at Karson Butler Events made the day so darn awesome.

Grant and Lise opted to see each other before the wedding ceremony, and his reaction to his bride says it all…

Grant was more than impressed by the vision of his beautiful wife…

Before heading to the ceremony, they made time for wedding photos at the Grand Colonial since the light was stunning…

The wedding and reception was hosted at the ever-charming Darlington House in La Jolla…adorableness abounded at every corner.

Guests walked into the historic home and were greeted warmly with smiles and libations…

Welcome champagne and wine were available for guests…talk about getting the party started off right!

The wedding was hosted in a lovely outdoor garden filled with white roses…

Darlington House in La Jolla is an intimate venue, but every crevice possessed the magic touch from the Karson Butler Events team…no detail was overlooked!

Grant was the happiest groom to be marrying his soul mate…

I love when an officiant asks the couple to look out to their guests and soak up the moment…

Walking down the aisle as husband and wife…

Look at this adorable bar in the library…couldn't have been more perfect for a couple who met at Princeton University…

Look at these stunning blooms…bright pops of color really made for lively and fresh wedding decor at the Darlington House in La Jolla

I need to take a second to thank Amber and Emily of Karson Butler Events for flipping the ceremony location into the reception location during cocktail hour…their team worked tirelessly to ensure everything went off without a hitch…and it was gorrrrrgeous!

I adore outdoor wedding receptions because of the natural light and the intimate vibe it creates…

Italian lights were strung across the garden to illuminate the al fresco dining at the Darlington House in La Jolla

This was one of the most delicious cocktail hours we were lucky enough to photograph…

What a perfect venue for outdoor wedding photography…

The couple stole a quick kiss before their entered for their Grand Entrance…too cute…

The first dance…

Watching the way these two love each other was beautiful…they simply melted into each other's arms…

Look how cute this wedding day man-cave was…liquor and cigars never looked so pretty…

Lise and Grant snuck away from the wedding reception for a few minutes for wedding photos on the beach in La Jolla…

Love and lovelier…

Once the sun set, the Italian lights illuminated a perfect dinner…

The speeches were too perfect…

I have a soft-spot for father/daughter and mother/son dances…it's such an incredibly moving part of the day…

…and then the party ramped up with amazing music…

Nobody could out-dance this couple…

…and Grant was really good at lip-synching to his new bride…

Everyone spent the evening in perfect bliss…

Many, many thanks to the wedding creative team who pretty much rocked my world…
