Over the years, I have heard a LOT of social media strategists making claims that their Instagram preset or editing tutorial is the secret to success on Instagram.
But I don’t agree with them.
In fact, not only do I not agree with them… I feel so strongly that they are WRONG about how to market your business on social media that I think it’s my responsibility to clear the air.
So, in this post, allow me to set the record straight about finding your dream customer on social media!
To begin, contrary to popular belief, fancy Instagram presets and a beautifully branded feed aren’t what will turn followers into customers.

What really matters is showing:
- Who you are
- What you do
- Why you do it

Because friend, getting a steady stream of amazing customers has nothing to do with you…and EVERYTHING to do with them.
If you want more customers on social media, find ways to demonstrate how your business makes their lives easier, meets their desires, or how it benefits them.
Now I’ll be real with you… These posts may not be crafted for a billion likes or result in virality.
