This is not a fairy tale…

It was 2021, and I had reached out to a few different companies to see if they would integrate or collaborate in some magical way with my company, Social Curator. 

Every single company said… No. 

Ouch. This rejection stung. This rejection hurt. This rejection humbled me.

Can you relate? What has your experience with rejection been like? Perhaps you’ve been wanting to collaborate with someone or partner with a company and all you’ve heard is:

• No.
• Not interested.
• Now’s not the right time. 
• We aren’t a good fit.
• Etc.

Oooooh, friend. Let me tell you, straight up: These kinds of words don’t settle well. 

They’re always tough to hear, and if I’m being real honest (which I am!), setbacks like these have knocked me down multiple times throughout my career.

This is why you often hear me say, “This entrepreneurial journey is not for the faint of heart.” 

While I’m not digging into the specifics of what happened, I am sharing how it felt, in hopes that you can feel less alone on roads paved by rejection. 

Keep in mind: our feelings cannot be trusted. 

It’s in these moments that our feelings can lie to us.

“You’re not good enough.”

“That was a terrible idea.”

“You’ll never achieve success.”

“No one wants to work with you.”

What can be trusted then? Trust this…

• If it’s meant for you it will find you, and 
• Everything is happening for you. 

Which is why I am so happy for…

• Every closed door 
• Each person that said, “No.”
• Not being the “right fit,” or
• Not being the “right target demographic”

I am so happy for all of the rejection I experienced because it forced my team to become something else… something better.

This quote is an oldie but a goodie, and I wish I could credit the person who said it first because these words have lit my way during dark and uncertain times in my life.

All that to say, I am so happy I was redirected to do something different in my business!

While these experiences may not feel or turn out like our favorite fairy tales, I promise you that the journey is worth it.
