Though I’ve never been a trend-setter, I’ve always been a trend-watcher…
… and when it comes to Instagram, I have an eagle eye. After all, keeping up with the trends plays a vital role in getting our accounts discovered!
This is why any time I have the opportunity to do something to get more eyes on my business I do it. This is where a lot of people say:
- “I want that too but…”
- “I'll do everything but that…”
- “If I have to do that, it’s not worth it…”
I get it. Trends (especially on social media) can feel exhausting and difficult. But real talk… If you’re in business and want to stay in business, knowing and incorporating social media trends into your marketing strategy is essential.

Let’s talk about the three Instagram trends you should be paying attention to in 2022!
Trend #1: Reel Replies
When I tell you this trend is straight crazy… I mean it in a good way! Instagram has enabled and empowered users to reply to comments on Reels.
Reel Replies give you the ability to engage with your audience in a more personalized way.
Here’s how they work:
- You can reply to comments people leave on your video with a new Reel.
- The reply Reel will have a sticker with the comment, the commenter’s username and profile picture.
- The person who posted the comment will receive a notification that you replied to them.
- Anyone can tap the original commenter’s username at the bottom of your Reel to view the original Reel you shared.
Why are they a trend you need to incorporate into your business? They help your followers and customers build authentic connections by getting to:
- Know,
- Like, and
- Trust you.

Trend #2: Micro-Influencers
If you have ever been interested in being an influencer, it’s not too late to do so. You are right where you're supposed to be.
There are so many opportunities for influencers right now because there are brands and businesses looking for people to connect with. They’re looking for somebody to advocate and push things out on behalf of their business and brand.
You don't need a hundred thousand followers to become a micro-influencer. If you have anywhere between 10-20,000 followers, businesses and brands (yes, even big ones!) will still consider you trustworthy.
If you’re interested in becoming or searching for a micro-influencer for your business ensure:
- Your values are aligned
- Content is posted consistently
- Followers are engaged
Don’t be shy! Reach out to accounts, businesses, and brands you’d like to collaborate with.
Trend #3: Reels
Before you roll your eyes, can I be honest? This trend is my favorite, and whether you agree with me or not, the fact is…
Reels are here to stay.
The data doesn’t lie. People LOVE watching Reels and you might hate making them, but people love watching them.
So it’s time to let your resistance go, and focus on your dream because the reality is: Reels can get you closer to achieving success!
