4 Scroll-stopping hooks you need

If you’ve been around the block with me once or twice, you’ve probably heard me mention the tried and true H.I.C. Formula that we teach inside Social Curator

Before I get into the nitty-gritty details, let me tell you: it’s THE most straightforward, time-saving, and effective formula we use to ensure ALL of our content is consistently engaging.

The H.I.C. Formula is the foundation of all of our content. (Posts, Reels, Stories, podcasts, videos, and more!)

My team and I do a deep dive into how to leverage and use it for your business on the inside of Social Curator, but here’s a quick recap:

  • Hook: a scroll-stopping headline that captivates your audience
  • Insights: the value you’re offering to your audience
  • Call to Action (CTA): boost engagement by asking your audience to do something.

The reason this formula works so well is because it starts with a “Hook.” If your follower isn’t captivated, intrigued, or “hooked” by the first line you write or say, they’re going to keep scrolling to read more enticing content.

>>You may have the most educational, empowering, and entertaining content out there, but if you don’t hook them at first sight, they won’t keep reading, listening, or watching your content.<<

But don’t worry… I have just what you need!

4 Scroll-Stopping Hooks

Hook #1: “Your __________ is not working for one of these three reasons…”

Hook #2: “If you are a __________ you need to try…”

Hook #3: “Nobody is talking about __________…”

Hook #4: “Do __________ if you want to __________…”

Ready for a breakdown of how you can start using these hooks today?

Customize the templates below for your specific business…

If you’re a service-based business:

Let’s say, for example, you’re a business coach…

  • Hook #1

“Your __________  [a problem your service helps solve (e.g. business plan/quarterly goal/etc.)] is not working for one of these three reasons:  __________,  __________, or  __________ [e.g. list 3 reasons your dream customer’s business plan may not be working and include the service you offer in one of the reasons (your goal doesn’t follow the S.M.A.R.T. formula/you don’t have a clear vision/you need another set of eyes on your plan/etc.)].”

  • Hook #2

“If you are  __________ [your dream customer (e.g. a salon owner/a small business at a Farmers’ market wanting to transition to a brick and mortar location/etc.)] you need to try  __________ [reason they should try your product (e.g. this vibrant ginger citrus essential oil for an afternoon pick-me-up/this locally made goal-setting journal to uplevel how your business/etc.)].”

  • Hook #3

“Nobody is talking about __________ [common misconception about your service (e.g. how mission statements are outdated/how average business plans aren’t enough anymore/etc.)].”

  • Hook #4

“Do __________ [the action you want your dream customer to take (e.g. NOT write a mission statement unless you are willing to live and breath it in your business/take the time to determine what you value before writing a business plan/etc.)] if you want to __________ [the result your dream customer will get if they use your service (be trusted by your clients/be embraced by your community/etc.)].”

If you’re a product-based business:

Let’s say, for example, you’re a direct sales distributor…

  • Hook #1

“Your __________ [a problem your product helps solve (e.g. unproductive morning routine/etc.)] is not working for one of these three reasons:  __________,  __________, or  __________ [list 3 reasons why your dream customer has the problem you listed above and include the product you sell in one of the reasons (you don’t enjoy your current routine/you’re not getting enough sleep/you need a better tea selection/etc.)].”

  • Hook #2

“If you are a  __________ [your dream customer (e.g. side-hustling mom/virtual assistant in Utah/etc.)] you need to try  __________ [reason they should try your product (e.g. this vibrant ginger citrus essential oil for an afternoon pick-me-up/this locally made goal-setting journal to uplevel your business/etc.)].”

  • Hook #3

“Nobody is talking about __________ [common misconception about your product (e.g. how essential oils have gotten a bad rap thanks to a congested market/how pen to paper is more effective than typing when it comes to goal setting/etc.)].”

  • Hook #4

“Do __________ [the action you want your dream customer to take (e.g. invest in your own self-care/take the time to create a workspace you love/etc.)] if you want to __________ [the result your dream customer will get if they use your product (be able to be more productive/be more motivated/etc.)].”

That’s not all, my friend! These examples are just the tip of the iceberg of what’s possible for you and your business.

Remember:

  • Your dream customer WANTS to discover you, because
  • They NEED what you offer.

>>It’s your job to help lead them to what they want and need by attracting them with a scroll-stopping hook for your business!<<

Time to reel them in…
