The Path to Profitability : A Time to Revel

It's a fault of my mine.  I can admit it, even though it makes me uncomfortable.  So here's the truth: I set BIG goals, work tirelessly to achieve them, then rush through acknowledging the accomplishment.  I'm great at raising a glass to say “Cheers,” but quietly mutter under my breath Let's hurry onto the next thing!  And while this type of work ethic is admirable in some ways, it's also a bit sad.  So I am changing it.

Today, I shall revel.

Nothing says “I'm awkward” much like holding up two peace signs when you don't know what else do you.

For the past 11 months, I worked with a ragtag team of dreamers to put together a goal of mine: a business summit for creative entrepreneurs.  Every day I woke at 4am to write and write (and write) content that would become a branding and marketing curriculum.  We assembled on a weekly basis, drafted ideas on a massive white board, and trudged our way to finishing what we set out to do.  We drank dark coffee, we argued, we laughed, we watched The Bachelor, we pushed each other, and we loved.  Fiercely.

They made The Path to Profitability great. Each attendee gave me the gift of grace, confidence, and hope. Love them.

There were days when I wanted to quit.  I silently wondered if I was qualified to create the content.  I cried in the darkness of my office when I couldn't find the right words to say.  Yet each small step put me closer to where I wanted to be.

Many thanks to Tami Paige for capturing all the behind-the-scenes photos

Last weekend the hustle paid off.  I stood in front of bright lights, a team of cinematographers, and entrepreneurs from around the world (Austria, Australia, Jamaica, Canada, and more!) to walk through The Path to Profitability.  At the end of the summit, I closed my eyes and realized it's working.  All of it. The content, the exercises, the community, the passion to change businesses and lives.  It's working.  And later this year we will launch an online course to share this experience.

I shared a sneak peek of the summit (and JD!) on Snapchat…you should join me there! @TheJasmineStar

I, however, would be remiss not to thank those who made this possible

  • To the attendees who traveled to the summits in Dallas and Los Angeles, thank you.  These words seem so small to adequately sum up how I feel, but they're all I have.  For now.  When I can think of what to say, you know you'll hear from me in the Facebook group…we still have LOTS of work to do together!  😉
  • Tami, you are the best content curator I could ask for.  You are kind, sweet, quiet, but fearless in defending your opinion, going the extra mile, and protecting us.  You never complained when I threw new projects at you and when you admitted to not knowing how it worked, I simply replied: Well, I believe you can figure it out!  And you did.  You make me better.
  • Bri, we've been best friends since we were 14 years old.  When I shared this crazy PTP dream with you, you simply said, “do it!”  When I doubted, you pushed me.  When I didn't know what to do next, you cleared the path.  When we argued, you helped me form stronger ideas.  You were my first PTP experiment and your business makes me incredibly proud.  Your ability to plan, schedule, organize and empower others makes you a logistical beast and I'm a major beneficiary of your talent.  You make me better.
  • JD, there is no one who believes in me more than you do.  In the morning you remind me of my limitless potential, and at night you encourage me to try again.  You refine my ideas, soften my edges, and never forget what matters most in business:  love.  Your care and concern for the team shined through and you kept us going with laughter, amazing Mexican food, and doing the left-over things none of us wanted to do.  And you did it all with a smile.  You are the cornerstone upon which my dreams are built.  I love you.
