Friend, do you want to triple your engagement on Instagram?

*That was a rhetorical question because I know you’re thinking, DUH.*

I want to give you 3 steps to triple your Instagram engagement, but before I do, let me tell you a secret:

I’m not a magic genie boo boo! I can’t make your engagement increase overnight without you putting in more work.

There are no shortcuts when it comes to getting engagement.

So if you are willing to do the work and build genuine relationships with your followers, let’s dive in to 3 steps you can take every day to triple your Instagram engagement.

1. Leave a thoughtful comment of at least 4 words on 10 of your follower’s accounts.

The lowest hanging fruit that will get the quickest results is to drive engagement with people who already follow you. Click on 10 accounts that already follow you and leave a comment of at least 4 words on their most recent post. Then, there will be a higher likelihood of them taking action next time you show up in their feed because you are no longer a stranger on the internet.

2. Post a poll in your stories, then respond via DM to everyone who voted.

For example, a couple of weeks ago my husband and I were debating which is a better brunch food: pancakes or waffles. I put out the poll to get to know my audience better, then looked at the results and engaged with those who responded. When you’re communicating privately with your followers in their DMs, they know, like, and trust you.

3. Choose a hashtag and leave a comment of more than 4 words on 10 accounts.

Now friend, there’s a caveat to this one: don’t choose a huge hashtag like “#summerlove”. I want you to find a hashtag that your dream customer would be searching for. For example, if you’re an interior designer, your ideal customer may be searching for #scandanaviandesign. Once you find an appropriate hashtag, go to 10 accounts and leave a thoughtful comment on their most recent post. This may cause them to go to your account to follow and engage with you!

If you’re saying “Jasmine, I do all of that!” then great! Now do it every.single.day, boo boo.
